Are the EP Radiator Guards really necessary?

Hot coolant is pumped to the radiators, where it is then cooled by passing airflow before returning to areas of the engine. Because a radiator is positioned to catch passing air it is also ‘open’ to damage from road debris. The EP Radiator Guards are designed to protect the R 1250 GS TE radiators delicate cooling fins and internal galleries from being mashed by stones and other debris, but mainly to prevent the radiators from being punctured and causing them to leak. The result of a leak will be overheating, which, in turn, can result in engine damage. Also, escaping coolant can also leak onto the tyres and cause sudden loss of grip.

    Next day delivery

    It’s OK

    Installation in my opinion requires loosening of additional bolts… it will be very useful if torque values for the bolts are provided… I was reassured by the customer service that a vibration/friction isolation tape is not needed between the radiators and the guards… a bit sceptical about that and time will tell if I worry for nothing. The packaging was not as good as for the products purchased in the past.

    Quality Guards

    Guards look great are really well made and very light unlike others on the market. Fitting was simple and no cable ties etc. that others use. In all would definitely recommend
