Is an EP radiator guard really necessary?

Most definitely, 100% yes. An EP radiator guard set protects the large Aprilia Tuono V4 Factory radiator from damage caused by road debris, while allowing cooling air to pass through. The Aprilia radiator consists of delicate cooling fins and internal cores - these fins easily bend and block the passage of air, which can lead to the engine overheating. Also, the internal cores can be holed by debris, such as a stone. This is usually the result of debris being picked up by the bike's front tyre and flung directly into the radiator. Not only will this lead to engine overheating but slippery coolant on tyres can cause loss of grip.

Poor fit

Had a lot of trouble getting the Rad Guard to fit, after ages trying and many a bleeding knuckle later, I gave up, the oil cooler guard fitted perfectly so happy with that bit, just couldn’t get the bottom brackets to line up as per the instructions, also, it would be better to have clear written instructions or may be a video to assist rather then the poor cartoon style pictures in grey, I found the particularly difficult to match to the bike.

Good quality - but does not quite fit

Purchased for my 2023 v4 Factory and had a bit of a nightmare fitting.

The instructions online are pretty much useless - not clear in slightest.

The guard itself, whilst seemingly good quality, does not quite fit. The issue is with the alignment holes on the top of the rad. The associated holes in the guard do not quite align and without drilling the guard holes to make them slightly larger, will not fit.

Furthermore, fitting requires removing a fair amount of the bike: fairings, coolant expansion tank, horn and some internals.

In summary, whilst the quality seems ok - the fitting is far from simple and the guard requires modifying to fit
