Well made looks great and does a great job
The quality is good and the design of the 22/23 KTM Super Duke R models has made adding a sat nav a pain (forget handlebar mounting - the vibration will destroy even ruggedised devices). So this mount does make for a reasonable solution and it’s pretty much vibration free. The sat nav position is a little low, but that’s down to the bike layout and use of RAM balls and arms results in the device blocking the bike’s display.
But £70!!! For a bit of alloy plate, a few screws and spacers and a very simple tilting bracket. I’ll be polite and call that very poor value indeed.
Also, the screws that fix the Garmin powered bracket to this mount are a bit short. Particularly as the receiving female threads are brass. I used blue Loctite and low torque to avoid thread stripping. Evotech need to revisit this aspect I think. Also, the tiny heads on the screws at this point utilise a very small Allen key, yet the Garmin powered bracket can accommodate much larger socket head screws of the appropriate thread. I may yet modify the pivoting plate on the mount by drilling the threads out of the brass inserts to provide a clearance hole and use longer through screws and nyloc nuts instead, as I use with RAM mounts and Garmin powered brackets on other bikes.
All in all a very overpriced mixed bag that needs a bit of development.
This bike provides few positions for the mounting of a GPS device, unlike its GT sister. The EP mount does not position the Zumo for ideal viewing, which is above the TFT instrument display. However, that position is not aesthetically pleasing, the mountings kits are more expensive, and can prevent the flyscreen being fitted. So, the EP mount is a good compromise for viewing and aesthetics. The angle of the TFT display on the KTM can be adjusted, as can the Zumo XT on the EP mount, which means that the best combination can be found for rider. The kit components are high quality and is fitted to the fuel filler using four longer screws. One downside of this fixing is that the mount must be removed to allow the removal of the tank side panels and tank for servicing. However, this is just four screws. The position of the EP mount allows space for a small tank bag.
