BSB ROUND 4 – TOP TEN RESULTS FOR EVOTECH PERFORMANCE SUPPORTED TEAMS

The Snetterton round (15-17 June) of the British Superbike Championship proved to be a good weekend for spectators and armchair viewers. There was plenty of good, close fought racing that also included spills and thrills in that order – a first race, first lap collision saw four riders go down including both official Honda riders. The good news was all of the riders involved were ok if not a little miffed.

Leon Haslam had the best time of the weekend even though it meant having two walks to the top step of the podium. Haslam’s two wins at Snet’ on the JG Speedfit Kawasaki place him top of the BSB leader board, with a healthy 64 points lead over second placed Bradley Ray (Buildbase Suzuki). Ray must be pleased about his present position considering he failed to deliver what he promised in qualifying by crashing out from both Snetterton races…

The Evotech Performance supported teams had their fair share of Snetterton high and lows, too. Race one saw top ten results for the majority with the best placed being Glenn Irwin completing Race 1 in second on the Be Wiser Ducati. The McAMS Yamaha pairing of Josh Brookes and fast-learning Tarran Mackenzie finished Race 1 in fourth and sixth respectively. Peter Hickman of Smiths Racing BMW was seventh, just 10.458sec adrift of Haslam. Christian Iddon (Tyco BMW) was the last EP supported team rider to finish inside the top ten with ninth place.

Race two saw another masterclass performance from Leon Haslam. He didn’t have it all his own way, though, because Josh Brookes could sniff a win in the air. Unfortunately, for the McAMS rider, a last lap sprint with Haslam resulted in the pair being split by Jake Dixon (RAF Regular & Reserves Kawasaki). Still, it was warming to see the McAMS rider take third. Hickman went one place better with sixth, while the Tyco BMW duo of Iddon and Laverty were fractions behind in eighth and ninth. Andrew Irwin got to grips with the Be Wiser Ducati to complete the top ten finishers.

The next round sees the BSB circus settle in the furthest circuit North when they pitch up for Round 5 at Knockhill. It’s a good shank up the A1 for anyone prepared to watch some hard but exciting racing from trackside. So yes, it’ll be worth it.
