New to biking? Here’s what to look out for!
New to motorcycling? Looking to buy your first bike but don’t know where to start?
If you’re 19 or older and have passed your theory test and hold a CBT certificate, you can get yourself an A2 licence by passing a two-part test. An A2 licence allows you to ride a bike that produces no more than 35kW or 47bhp (these are normally advertised as A2 bikes in dealers), and the good news is that there’s loads to choose from! Check out our pick of the crop below.
Yamaha MT-07
What a cracking bike. With aggressive naked looks, plenty of performance and good value for money as well, what’s not to like? You might just want to make sure it’s protected with some crash protection…

Kawasaki Ninja 650
Looks the part and goes like a bike much bigger too! Quick enough to thrill, sensible enough to chill, in fact it does pretty much anything you could want from a first big bike. Kit it out with an EP tail tidy and it’ll look even better.

Honda CBR650R
Another brilliant all-rounder, the CBR650R is as at home scratching round the back lanes as it is commuting to the office. One of the most powerful bikes you can ride on an A2 licence but still a doddle to master.

Suzuki SV650
It may be due to be replaced by the new GSX-8S but the SV650 remains a great bike for the recently-passed rider. You can pick an older model up for next to nothing and have years of riding pleasure. Faired or naked, it’s just a bulletproof, fun bike to ride. Our extensive range of accessories can add life to the bike too!

Plenty of other bikes can be restricted or converted too and after a couple of years, you can make the step up to your full licence. See you for many years of riding!
