Practice makes perfect (racing)
British Superbikes (BSB) is, without doubt, one of the mostly hotly contested home-nation racing series in the world. While the series doesn’t have the appreciation of global TV audiences, BSB and its stars are recognised as a truly great sporting spectacle. And quite rightly so. Not only is BSB almost gladiatorial – it definitely raises the heartbeat rate of the thousands of spectators and followers – but also over the years has raised some serious talent that gets drafted onto the world stage via WSBK and MotoGP.
BSB is no different to any other championship. There’s a start to the season and, of course, an end. But before the BSB season kicks off there’s an army of ants working behind the scenes to make sure the BSB carnival is ready to rock. There’s the sponsorship chasing, team enrolment, riding signings, contracts, logistics, and legal teams and much more that nobody outside of BSB sees. But the most important preseason get up and go area is the first official BSB preseason test.
Donington Park Race Circuit, Leicestershire is the former (1987-2009) home to the British round of MotoGP. It’s a fast, flowing circuit with elevation changes and great for spectating. On 6-7th April, Donington was the backdrop for the first official BSB test. And Evotech performance was there. Not just as excited spectators but also as working partners to select BSB teams.
When we say working, we don’t mean in the literal sense as in picking up tools and helping out the team technicians, but in the sense that Evotech Performance products were in place on many of the top tier BSB team bikes, and also the bikes of the many BSB championship supporting race series, such as SuperSport, ROKiT Rookies and National Superstock.
To see our hard work being tested and validated by the best teams and riders gives us an enormous sense of pride. More than that, all feedback from the teams about Evotech components help us to ensure we deliver the same exacting level of quality to you, our customer.
As you read this, the second official BSB test event will be taking place 16-19th April at Navarra Circuit, Spain. The first BSB round will immediately follow (20th-21st). Unfortunately, the Evotech team cannot make it to Spain... Shame.
We would like to thank all teams and riders using Evotech Performance parts, including unseen bespoke components that were commissioned based on our skill levels in design and fabrication. If we had to list every team and rider from the BSB championship it would be very, very long. So, for now, we especially would like thank and wish well for the season ahead the following teams:
