Three’s the magic number for EP in the BSB 2023 season opener
This Easter Bank Holiday was the kick-off of the UK’s premier motorcycle race series, the British Superbike Championship (BSB), with round 1 of 11 held at Silverstone on the National circuit. The weekend-long event proved once again that BSB is one of the most exciting racing championships in the world.
From the event’s three races came three different winners, for three teams running three different makes of motorcycles. But for Evotech Performance, it was a triple-hit of excitement with all winning teams being Evotech Performance supported.
Race 1: Kyle Ryde – LAMI OMG Racing Yamaha Team
Race 2: Josh Brookes – FHO Racing BMW Motorrad Team
Race 3: Glenn Irwin – BeerMonster Ducati Team
Being supported teams means that the race-honed superbikes are kitted out with EP Race products. These products can take many forms but are usually EP Race Radiator and Oil Cooler Guards, Brake and Clutch Lever Protectors, Exhaust Hangers and, often out-of-sight specialist brackets for instrument displays, batteries, approved ignition systems, clip-on handlebars and much more.
As part of our commitment to kitting out supported teams with EP race products, we continually monitor the feedback that we receive from riders and teams, so celebrations never last long at EPHQ in Lincolnshire as we’re always straight back into development of our race products and the road products they inspire.
The extreme racing conditions in BSB make the race series the perfect test bed for EP product development. Be it crash capability of protective parts or the protection strength of cooler guards without reducing the cooling effect of fresh air reaching the radiator and oil coolers, we carefully listen to what the team techs tell us in order to ensure that the same manufacturing tolerances and material grades go into manufacturing road-going EP accessories.
