Back on track

The effects of the Covid-19 pandemic have been far reaching and everybody is now climbing a steep hill as a part of the return journey to normality. In our minds ‘normality’ is a long way off. However, the motorcycle racing fraternity is taking big strides.

Cancellation of the IoM TT, North West 200 and other major road racing events was a massive blow to the teams and organisations involved and, of course the fans of such great racing spectacles. The expected start of British Superbike Championship (BSB) and UK national racing series also failed to happen and mirrored the events happening in MotoGP and World Superbikes (WSB). It was immediate heartache for everybody involved in motorcycling but, in the interest of human life, the decision to stall all racing was a wise one. Now for the good news.

Working tirelessly behind closed doors while wedged against a laptop screen for hundreds of video calls, all the planet’s governing bodies for motorcycle racing have achieved the impossible to deliver revised 2020 racing calendars for most race championships across the globe. The obvious being MotoGP and WSB.

Meanwhile, closer to the home of Evotech Performance, BSB has officially announced a provisional start to the season of six triple-header race events to give an 18-round championship fight between August and October 2020. More good news is the usual accompanying support championships (600 and 1000cc Superstock, Supersport and others) will also run at the proposed six scheduled events. During the enforced race season cancellation and subsequent downtime at EP HQ, we have also been busy from our home offices/sheds or anywhere with decent Wi-Fi signal and minimal family interruptions. Constant contact with our supported race teams has led to a surge of race-specification products now being made ready for the anticipated start of the 2020 race season. We are close to announcing some additions to the list of EP supported teams, which we will let you know about when all EP racing activity is finalised next month… maybe sooner if you follow our Twitter channel.
