Retro Brilliance & Big Twin Performance: Evotech’s Two Favourites Of 2024?
What’s your favourite motorcycle? Which bike has shaken your desirability box? These questions and similar are often asked among us motorcyclists, and usually relate to both models from yesteryear as well as today.
If we were to be asked which our favourite bike of the year is, based on desirability and not just having undergone the Evotech Design treatment, we’d be hard pushed to choose between two models.
KTM’s 1390 Super Duke and Yamaha’s exquisite XSR900 GP are virtually neck and neck in the Evotech voting. We’ve always been impressed with the sharp, modern styling and mind-bending performance of the big-bore Super Duke range. The new 1390 Super Duke has taken both qualities to a new level. It truly is awesome in every way.
The Yamaha XSR900 GP is different to the Super Duke in every way but is equally wow! The way its retro race-replica styling – especially in the Legend Red paint scheme – pulls the heartstrings of senior bikers and freshly licensed riders in equal measure says a lot. And then there are the exquisite touches, such as the miniscule headlight, digital dash, and rider positioning that looks race-replica but is actually quite comfy. And while its performance cannot match the KTM Super Duke, with subtle suspension tweaks and stickier tyres it will easily give the same adrenaline rush and smiles without the KTM’s monster horsepower.
Without doubt, both bikes are superb riding tools and look good to boot. The protection and cosmetic upgrades given from the Evotech accessories further underline their qualities. Additional parts such as Evotech Bar End Mirrors and Sat Nav /Smartphone mounts also ramp up the riding experience. And it is an experience, whichever model you’re lucky to own.
